Kenya woke up to a letter by KANU leader Gideon Moi in which the Baringo Senator gave his two cents on the Azimio la Umoja – One Kenya Alliance running mate debacle. In a letter to The Azimio la Umoja secretariat interviewing prospective deputies for the coalition party’s running mate, KANU leader Gideon Moi espoused the virtues of his OKA mate Kalonzo Musyoka.
It read:
The Kenya African National Union (KANU) proposes and submits the name of H.E Hon. Stephen Kalonzo Musyoka as its preferred candidate for the position of Deputy President in the forthcoming General Election. It is our considered opinion, and we strongly believe that Stephen Kalonzo fits the bill and is the most suitable to deputise Raila Amolo Odinga.”
KANU and Gideon Moi’s endorsement of Kalonzo Musyoka as Raila’s running mate.
However, in the strange way in which things work in politics, hours after the letter was signed, sealed and delivered, Gideon Moi’s KANU came out to front its own party leader for the same position!
Folks, I give up!
Kalanzo’s People interview
While Gideon was sending letters professing his love, Kalonzo was prepping himself for a show of might. For most of the day, The Wiper Democratic Movement leader hit the ground in his Ukambani backyard to conduct roadside rallies in Mlolongo, Athi River and Kyumbi.
The former Vice President, accompanied by party stalwarts, delivered an exceptionally loud and clear message in what he cheekily termed “the people’s interview:
To get to the Kamba vote, one must go through him…..
And, oh no… He’s not going to beg for respect!
