Mulembe Nation is committed to making its content accessible to as wide an audience as possible, including people with disabilities. We know we have not yet reached full accessibility and we are working toward it.
What we have done
The site uses semantic HTML markup throughout. All images in articles carry descriptive alt text. Our colour scheme maintains a contrast ratio above 4.5:1 for body text. The site is navigable by keyboard. We use descriptive link text. The site is readable at up to 200% zoom without horizontal scrolling.
What we are working on
Older archive content has inconsistent alt text coverage. Some data visualisations do not yet have text alternatives. PDF documents linked from articles are not fully accessible. We are addressing these progressively.
Known limitations
Embedded third-party content including maps, video players, and social media embeds may not meet our accessibility standards. We do not control the accessibility of third-party platforms.
