Mulembe Nation (mulembenation.co.ke) is published by Eastview Holdings Limited, based in Nairobi, Kenya. This policy applies to Mulembe Nation and its network sections and subsites.

What data we collect
Information you provide
Contact and correspondence: If you contact us, we may receive your name, email address and message content. We use this information to respond to your enquiry and maintain appropriate editorial or administrative records.
Comments: When comments are enabled, WordPress may collect the name, email address, IP address and comment content submitted through the comment form. Your email address is not published.
Newsletter information: If newsletter subscriptions are enabled and you subscribe, we may process your email address and related subscription preferences until you unsubscribe.
Data and knowledge submissions: If you contribute documents, linguistic material, cultural knowledge, research material, corrections or other information, we may retain the submission, relevant contact details and verification records needed to assess or manage it.
Information collected automatically
Server and security logs: Our hosting and security infrastructure may process standard technical information such as IP address, browser information, requested URLs, timestamps and security events in order to deliver and protect the website.
Essential cookies: WordPress and related infrastructure may use cookies required for login, administration, comments, security or other necessary site functions.
Analytics: At the time of this update, the public site does not load an active Google Analytics or Google Tag Manager tracking script. If non-essential analytics are introduced later, this policy will be updated to describe the provider and data practice in use.
Advertising: Advertising is currently disabled. The public site does not currently load Google AdSense advertising code. If advertising is enabled later, we will update this policy and related cookie information to reflect the advertising provider and any applicable user choices.
How we use information
We may use personal information to respond to enquiries, moderate comments, manage submissions, investigate corrections, maintain editorial records, operate and secure the website, comply with legal obligations, and prevent fraud or abuse.
We do not sell personal data.
Community and cultural knowledge
Mulembe Nation handles community-contributed cultural and linguistic material with particular care. Publication, attribution, reuse and commercial use should take account of consent, contributor expectations, community interests and the nature of the material.
Sensitive or restricted cultural knowledge is not made public merely because it has been submitted to us.
Your rights
Subject to applicable law, including the Kenya Data Protection Act 2019, individuals may have rights relating to access, correction, deletion, objection, restriction of processing and withdrawal of consent.

Retention
We retain personal information only for as long as reasonably necessary for the purpose for which it was collected, for legitimate editorial or archival purposes, to maintain security and accountability records, or to meet legal obligations.
Different categories of information may therefore have different retention periods.
Service providers
Mulembe Nation is currently hosted using Hetzner infrastructure and uses Cloudflare for DNS and security-related services. Other service providers may be used for backups, email, document storage or site administration where necessary.
These providers may process limited technical or account information as required to provide their services and are subject to their own privacy terms and applicable contractual safeguards.
International processing
Some technology providers may process information outside Kenya. Where applicable, we seek to use appropriate contractual, technical and organisational safeguards for such processing.

We update this policy when our practices or service providers materially change. The date at the top of this page indicates the latest substantive update.

Reader support and payments
If you choose to support Mulembe Nation, Eastview Holdings Limited may process the information required to initiate, confirm, secure, reconcile and account for the transaction. Depending on the payment channel, this may include the contribution amount, originating article, a protected normalised mobile number, payment-provider request identifiers, transaction status, transaction or receipt reference, and relevant timestamps.
Mulembe Nation does not ask for or store your M-PESA PIN. Sensitive payment credentials remain with the relevant payment provider. Phone numbers, M-PESA receipt numbers and equivalent payment identifiers are not sent to ordinary web analytics.
Reader support is voluntary and does not purchase access to ordinary Mulembe Nation editorial content.
