Gather them, scatter them: New ANC catch former Butere MP Andrew Toboso takes on Tindi Mwale

  • Former Butere MP Hon Andrew Toboso takes on Tindi Mwale. Current MP Hon. Mwale on Wednesday diched the green jersey for blue when he defeted to ‘the fastest growing party in Kenya’ DAP-K from Amani National Congress (ANC) Party Kenya.
  • Hon. Tindi Mwale’s defection had been expected
  • Hon Andrew Toboso lost the seat in 2017 after being rigged out of ODM Party primaries.

At the ‘Earthquake’ at Bomas, Hon. Musalia Mudavadi promised to ‘gather them and scatter them’. This part of his hard hitting speech delivered during the third ANC Party National Delegates Conference can now be foresight on his part. The son of Hannah may have anticipated that politicians being who they are, would jump on and offbaord his ship as it navigated the tsunami brought about by this ‘Earthquake’ momemnt.

Indeed, this past week the political space has been awash with news of Amani National Congress (ANC) party losing members of parliament to competitiors (mostly DAP-K). On Wednesday, 2nd February, Butere MP elected on an ANC Party ticket, Hon. Tindi Mwale, formalised his move to Omwami Eugene Wamalwa’s DAP-K.

Mwale’s ditching of ANC made him the last Member of Parliemnet from Kakamega County elected on an ANC to jump ship. As had been the case with every defection, the DAP-K brigade made a meal of it, dancing to isikuti in jubilant mood.

Tindi Mwale’s defection had been expected. As reported by People Daily, the Butere Member of Parliament had on Tuesday 25th January of 2022 made his way to State House where President Uhuru Kenyatta was meeting a section of Western Kenya leaders. He was turned away as an intruder. Later he took to press to ditch Mudavadi

Toboso served as member of parliament 2013 to 2017 and could not repeat the feat after being dramatically rigged out of the 2017 ODM Party primaries. In what pundits termed as protest vote against the bundled ODM primaries, Amani National Congress Tindi Mwale emerged victorious. See: Hon. Andrew Toboso Biography, facts, family
