The Making Of The Man
It can be augured that there are things that maketh a man. In no particular order…
- First, is their success or failures – This is not because a man is defined by what he has or doesn’t have. He is because he is that which remains when his success or failure is taken from him. That is the true measure of that man.
- Father – Simply because the greatest inheritance you can have, an education, comes from whomever fathered the man.
- Third, is their travels – What a father cannot give you, only your travels and experiences can. As Euripides the aristocrat of Greek mythology whose tragedian texts were of great influence in classical Athens said: “Experience, travel – these are an education in themselves.”
- Fourth, their partner, home, whatever roots them or where they lay their head to rest and think.
- Finally, and probably the most important, its the man’s habits.

WW is urbane, with a cosmopolitan worldview. Having worked in South Africa and England for over six years, WW is not only is a child of the world, but also wields cutting edge experience in investment consultancy and pensions management at the global stage.
That said, WW loves to get a bang for the buck. In a viral story of August 2017, just after assuming office as governor, WW walked to downtown Bungoma for a bite. All alone; without his security detail or official cars. While some termed his stroll a well crafted PR gimmick, those who know him say it was all him – at home in the streets and the boardroom. In any case they reminded me, the campaigns were over.

Especially when one considers that Wycliffe Wafula Wangamati loves his food home-made.
It is easy to dismiss his love for a warm home made meal, as nothing but a compliment to the first lady’s cooking, but WW walks the talk.

But his desire for speed is not limited to campaign gimmicks, as WW is a stickler to time. On August 24th 2017, media guys from three TV stations requested for an interview with WW. Agreeing to it, he gave an early morning seven o’clock sharp appointment. At the agreed time, only one media crew were on time. The early bird got his interview. The rest were locked out
