The land of Mulembe is blessed with Gospel music giants, the ilk of the uplifting Gloria Muliro, inspiring Reuben Kigame and the legendary Rufftone and Daddy Owen brother duo. Not forgetting the likes of Peninah Musula, Pastor Sammy Opingo and Naomi Nyongesa. Recently, we sat down with a daughter of Mulembe, Jully Masinde, who’s scaling the heights in gospel music. We spoke about her ministry, music and more…Enjoy!
Who is Jully Masinde?
Jully Masinde is a born again woman, a worshiper, a loving wife to Geoffrey Masinde and a mother to Berachah ,Gift and Asante. I was born and raised in a very humbled background in a village called Kimalewa in a God fearing family ,with so many challenges of life which made me grow to be a determined and a strong believer. I’m now married in Bungoma County, in Western Kenya.
Why gospel music?
Gospel music is the backbone of our existence. For we were created to worship him. And we are called to this great assignment as in Mathew 28:18-20.
When did Jully Masinde realize her talent?
When I was young girl, I grew up singing in church. Thanks to God’s revelation in my life, I quickly learnt of the gift I had in me. Furthermore, When I came of age, I realized more and more that worship was me. This was because I felt blessed and renewed whenever I worshiped the almighty and ministered with song and praise.
What inspires your music?
I am inspired by true worship which, as we learn in the Bible, comes from the Holy Spirit. By true worship, I mean the act of prayer and supplication where it about a relationship with God. Therefore, true worship is not principally about material things like money, or the vanity of fame but about intimacy with God.
Who writes your music?
Myself mostly and by the help of inspiration from the holy spirit. However, my entire family, my God fearing husband and our children who we are bringing up in the lord, is a musical one. Therefore, even when we are just goofing around with the little ones, cooking or sharing time as a family, music of praise always features somewhere. I always thank God for that.
How many songs have you released so far? Any album yet? What’s your favorite song?
I have seven audio titles so far. It is a blessing that three of my songs have been recorded as videos. I love all my songs as they are my testimony to God’s greatness. But if you are asking which of my praise song speaks to Jully Masinde, then it has to be: “Bado Nangoja”
What challenges have you faced as in your music career?
Music is an expensive venture. It’s not only the recording, but also the significant costs of acquiring the right equipment, making music videos and paying for all the professional work that goes into music. But I am trusting God in this journey of completing my first full album.

What are your hobbies?
It goes without saying that I absolutely love signing. Beyond that, I enjoy traveling and socializing.

That I am a good, trained and certified electrician. That I enjoy training future generations in my craft at a local National Polytechnic.
