Your Roots Are Here. We Help You Find Them.
Mulembe Find Your Family helps East Africans trace their roots, document their family histories, and connect with their communities of origin. We publish genealogy guides, community records, clan histories, and original reporting on the family structures and migration patterns of communities across Kenya and the wider Great Lakes region.
The database we are building is crowdsourced and community-verified. If you have family records, clan histories, oral genealogies, or place connections you want to contribute, send them to roots@mulembenation.co.ke.
Data Governance
Genealogical and family history data contributed to this site is treated with the same care we apply to all community knowledge. Contributors control whether their submissions are published publicly or held in our private research database. We do not share identifying genealogical information with third parties without explicit consent. Family records submitted for private research are not published without the contributor’s written agreement.
The Mulembe Roots Index
The Roots Index maps the documentation coverage of East African family and clan histories: which communities have strong genealogical records, where oral traditions are being transcribed, where diaspora connections are being traced, and where the gaps are. The index updates several times a week.
