The Marama are a tribe, house of mulembe as we call them here, of the Luhya supra-community. The Marama are found largely in Butere area of Kakamega county and speak olumarama. The oluyia or clans of the Marama are:

- Abatere,
- Abashirotsa,
- Abamukhula,
- Aberecheya,
- Abamumbia,
- Abamatundu,
- Abanyukhu,
- Abakhuli,
- Abakokho,
- Abashieni,
- Abamani,
- Abashikalie,
- Abakara, and
- Abatsotse.
