In the 2022 Kenya General Elections, The Roots Party of Kenya had Professor George Luchiri Wajackoyah (62) as the party’s flagbearer for presidency and Justina Wangui Wamae (35) as running mate and candidate for Deputy President. The duo promised to legalize marijuana whose legalized trade they believed, would spur Kenya’s economic recovery post COVID-19 pandemic. In an interview, Wamae, 35, said that despite having never smoked weed, she was prepared to smoke during their inauguration if they clinched the presidential seat.
“I have never puffed bhang but one thing I can assure you, I have even asked for permission from my husband, the moment we win, during inauguration, tutapuff, kishash (bhang) lazima kiwashwe. But its only for that day,”
