Performance in 2022 General Elections #

The party’s loss of members, particularly in Kakamega county, who defected to DAP-K and ODM months to the election led to a less stellar performance than in the 2017 elections. It also bore the burden of coalition sibling rivalry politics with the bigger party in Kenya Kwanza Coalition, UDA, ‘stealing’ some seats that would have otherwise been expected to be ANC’s. A good example is the Sabatia Constituency MP seat which was won by Clement Sloya of UDA. In the 2022 elections spoils, Amani National Congress (ANC) emerged with 36 elected MCAs, 20 nominated MCA, eight MPs and a governor.
